# Set default workflow notifications

> Choose how your organization is notified when Workflows fail, and let members override that default in their own settings.

Admins can set a default [Workflow](/workflows/overview.md) failure notification frequency for the organization. This default applies to members who have not chosen their own setting. Members can override it anytime from Account Settings.

> Only admins can change the organization default. New organizations start with
> Workflow failure notifications **Off** until an admin chooses a different
> frequency.

## Set the organization default

**1. Open organization settings**

Open your account menu from the sidebar and select **Organization
Settings**.

**2. Go to Workflow Notifications**

Under **Notifications** in the left sidebar, click **Workflow Notifications**.

**3. Choose a default frequency**

Select how members should be notified when Workflows they create fail:

| Frequency | Description |
| - | - |
| **Daily Summary** | One digest of all failures per day |
| **Hourly Summary** | One digest per hour |
| **Immediate** | Instant notification for every failure |
| **Off** | No notifications |

This setting does not change members who already saved a personal default. It only fills in the value for members who have not chosen one yet.

**4. Save**

Click **Save** to apply your changes. The **Save** button only becomes active after you've made at least one change.

## How member overrides work

Members can still choose their own default from **Account Settings** → **Notifications**. Saving a personal option overrides the organization default. Members can also reset back to the organization default from that page.

To subscribe to failures on specific Workflows, including Workflows they did not create, members can add custom subscriptions. See [Set up failure notifications](/workflows/sharing-and-deployment.md#set-up-failure-notifications).
