# Personalize your chats

> Tell Cassidy who you are, connect your business apps, and add Skills so every chat understands your role, your tools, and how you like to work.

A few minutes of setup makes every chat more useful, no matter which
[Agent](/agents/overview) you use. There are four ways to personalize your
chats, and all of them live under **Customize** in the sidebar:

* **Personalization** — Cassidy learns your name, role, and how you like
  answers formatted.
* **Connectors** — The Agent can reach the business apps you use every day,
  like Outlook or Google Sheets.
* **Skills** — Cassidy follows reusable instructions for recurring tasks, like
a meeting-prep routine your team has refined.
* **Memory** — Agents remember useful context from your private chats and
can search your past chats, so you don't repeat yourself.

These are your personal settings: they shape your own chats without changing
any Agent for anyone else.

## Tell Cassidy who you are

Personalization shapes how Cassidy responds in your chats — the name it uses,
the context it assumes about your work, and the style of its answers.

**1. Open Personalization**

Click **Customize** in the sidebar and select **Personalization**. The same
**Customize** menu is in the top-right corner of a new chat.

**2. Fill in your details**

* **What should Cassidy call you?** — The name you want used in responses.
* **What do you do?** — Your role or focus, like "Sales leader" or
"Product manager". This gives Cassidy context for its answers.
* **How should Cassidy respond?** — Preferences, context, or a writing
style you want used across your chats, up to 2,000 characters. For
example: "I manage the enterprise sales team focused on AmLaw 200 firms.
Keep responses concise and action-oriented. Use bullet points for key
  takeaways."

**3. Save**

Click **Save personalization**.

> [!TIP]
>
> Your preferences now apply to every new chat.

> [!NOTE]
>
> Personalization applies to your own chats in the Cassidy web app. It is not
> included in [Workflow](/workflows/overview) runs or external Agent deployments
> like [Slack](/integrations/slack/deploy-agent) or [Microsoft
> Teams](/agents/deploy/microsoft-teams), and changing your name here does not
> change your profile name. For organization-wide rules that apply to every
> Agent and Workflow, see [Global instructions](/settings/global-instructions).

## Connect your business apps

[Connectors](/agents/connectors/overview) let the Agent read and update data in
tools like Outlook, Google Calendar, and Google Sheets during a chat — look up
today's meetings, draft an email, or pull numbers from a spreadsheet. Connect
an app once under **Customize** → **Connectors** and it's available in every
chat in the Cassidy web app.

![Connectors directory with installed apps and available Connectors](https://mintcdn.com/cassidy/3DfxV-bTMzCFmNrU/images/settings/personal-connectors-browse.png?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=3DfxV-bTMzCFmNrU\&q=85\&s=436f569d5559d8b08641c445a9e7c454)

You stay in control: each Connector has action permissions that decide what
the Agent can do without asking and what needs your approval first. See [Connect
and manage business apps](/agents/connectors/overview) for the full
walkthrough, including approvals and managing connections.

## Add Skills

[Skills](/skills/overview) are reusable instructions, files, and tools — like
"Daily Workday Brief" or "Meeting Prep" — that Cassidy applies automatically
when they match your request, so recurring tasks come out the way you want
every time. Open **Customize** → **Skills** to see your active Skills, and
browse the directory to install more from your team's library.

See [Use Skills](/skills/using-skills) to learn how to install Skills and how
Cassidy applies them in chat.

## Memory

With memory on, Agents remember durable details you share in your private
chats, like your role, the tools you use, and how you like answers written,
and use them in later chats with any Agent. They can also search your past
private chats when you refer back to earlier work. Open **Customize** →
**Memory** to see, delete, or import what Agents remember, or to turn memory
off.

See [Memory](/agents/memory) for how memory works, what it never saves, and how it works in projects.
